The underlying impetus for my work is my connection to the experience of moving through three-dimensional space.
My intention is to design experiences that temporarily heighten and transform relation between participants and their surroundings through performance, color, light, and sound.
I trust in the value of play and the need for occasions when people can play together. My design vocabulary includes anticipating what shapes may be formed by the combined energies of audience members as they clump, pose, process, or dance.
Creating a three-dimensional maquette allows me to imagine the visual/kinetic experience of the participant as he or she moves through the space.
I am more interested in the relationships between the things I make than the objects themselves. The work I create is intentionally ephemeral and ideally recyclable.
